Psychotherapy and Coaching

Psychodynamic Psychotherapist

About my work

There are times in life when changes in circumstances or relationships make it hard to find a way through alone. We might have family or friends to whom we can turn for support, but sometimes even that isn't enough. Sometimes we want help from a professional - someone who is well trained, who is there for us, and able to devote time and skill to our unique situation. A person who is not involved in the dynamics of our family or friendship groups and who can offer support as well as challenge for us to grow,

I offer counselling and psychotherapy to individuals who come to me for a wide variety of reasons. I provide a place to talk and to explore emotions, to take time to think about who we are and what we want from life, and I try to help you understand better what is contributing to your current situation so you can change.

I have experience of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and nationalities on issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, low self-esteem, career dilemmas, relationship issues and addiction. Of course, a list such as this might suggest that issues present themselves clearly and individually, whereas in reality it often is a complex web of experiences, that we can work through together.

Background and training

I trained as a psychotherapist and counsellor for five years at The Westminster Pastoral Foundation (WPF), one of the premier organisations for training psychodynamic psychotherapists in the UK.

I now practice in the WPF clinic in a private capacity. I also work in the NHS as a psychotherapist with the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, seeing patients at an outpatient’s clinic.

My first career was in education where I worked with children and their families at senior leadership level.

Session information and availability

I work with people on a long-term basis as well as offering time-limited psychotherapy, lasting 12 to 16 weeks, where there is a particular focus. Confidentiality is absolutely assured and I am bound by the Code of Ethics of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) of which I am a member.

My fee for each 50-minute session is £60, I do reserve a limited number of places for concessions, upon agreement. Our initial consultation lasts for 90 minutes and the fee for this is £80. At this point we can discuss your reasons for coming, any concerns or reservations you might have, and how we would work together. Usually the initial consultation is sufficient to discover whether embarking on a therapeutic journey with me is what you want to do.
